LAHORE – A high-level delegation from Pakistan will participate in the world’s first Global SMEs Summit, which will take place in Davos, Switzerland, from September 03 to 05. The three-day event will bring together representatives from both developed and developing nations, making it a landmark international gathering focused on small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The Pakistani delegation, led by Muhammad Yaseen, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Industrial Sewing Machines Importers and Dealers Association (PISMIDA), is attending this event on the special invitation of the Global SME Business Home, an international platform dedicated to creating global business opportunities.
Highlighting the importance of the summit, Muhammad Yaseen said the event is being recognized as the second-most significant global gathering in Switzerland after the World Economic Forum. He noted that countries and organizations worldwide are not only enthusiastic about attending but are also preparing extensively to ensure they can maximize the opportunities the summit presents. According to Yaseen, the summit carries exceptional importance for SMEs, as it will not only provide a platform for showcasing products and services but also bring together venture capitalists from resource-rich and advanced economies. These investors are expected to finalize agreements for funding and supporting diverse projects across the globe, including in developing countries like Pakistan.
Yaseen urged the government of Pakistan to immediately activate and strengthen the role of its embassy in Switzerland to assist the delegation and to capitalize on the opportunities available at the event. He added that, thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s investment climate has become increasingly favorable. With focused efforts and proper coordination, he said, Pakistan can attract significant foreign investment.
He further stated that PISMIDA would request the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to play its due role in ensuring Pakistan secures maximum benefits from the summit. A dedicated Pakistan Pavilion will also be set up at the event, where a range of Pakistani products will be displayed to international visitors. Yaseen emphasized that the pavilion will serve as an important opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s manufacturing and trade potential. He explained that the summit will be attended by traders, manufacturers, investors, industry experts, and representatives of global financial institutions.
The Pakistani delegation plans to hold extensive meetings during the summit as well as on the sidelines, with the dual objectives of promoting Pakistan’s products and attracting new streams of foreign investment into the country.
