Muzaffargarh’s ‘millionaire beggar’ dies in road accident


MUZAFFARGARH  –  Muzaffargarh’s well-known ‘millionaire beggar,’ Malik Shaukat Hussain , popularly known as Shaukat Bhikari, died in a road accident near Jhangar Mahra.  Rescue 1122 sources said Shaukat sustained critical injuries when his motorcycle met with an accident. He was being shifted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Shaukat Bhikari, a resident of Miranpur, Shah Jamal, became famous for collecting alms and depositing every rupee in the bank. He often shared deposit slips on social media, claiming he had over Rs 4.8 million in savings. He reportedly owned two houses in Multan and had even taken out insurance policies, proudly calling himself a “crorepati beggar.” His unusual lifestyle attracted significant media attention, and he was issued several notices by the FBR due to his substantial bank balance. He was laid to rest in his native village Miranpur after funeral prayers.
