
VEHARI – In today’s era, the need for modern research and innovation to boost agricultural productivity, tackle climate change, and ensure food security is more urgent than ever. These vital issues were discussed at a one-day seminar titled “Role of Adaptive Research in Technological Advancements for Safe Food Production” held at COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus.
Chief Guest Dr Ishtiaq Hassan, DG Agriculture (Extension & Adaptive Research), Punjab, stated that sustainable agriculture is not possible without research, climate-resilient strategies, and academic collaboration. “Farmers must have access to research-based technologies to achieve food self-sufficiency,” he said. Dr Muhammad Tahir and Dr Faiz Rabbani, heads of Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences departments respectively, briefed the audience on their departments’ research scope and initiatives. Dr Hassan also offered internships and pledged research collaboration with COMSATS. Director Campus Prof Dr Khuda Bakhsh, in his concluding remarks, emphasised innovation and institutional cooperation for agricultural growth and lauded the faculty for organising the seminar. A commemorative shield was presented to the guest speaker to mark the occasion.
