Students urged to protect identities, data online

VEHARI  –  Vehari Police organised a cybercrime and cyber security awareness seminar at COMSATS University to educate students about emerging digital threats and promote safe online practices.  SP Investigation Farooq Ahmed Kamyana highlighted key issues such as cyber attacks, data theft, phishing, and social media hacking, advising students to regularly update passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and avoid storing credentials in insecure places. He emphasised the importance of not clicking on suspicious links, as they can lead to personal and financial data breaches. He stressed that cyber security is a shared responsibility of every citizen and institution, not just law enforcement. The session concluded with a question and answer segment and was attended by COMSATS Director Prof Khuda Bakhsh, DSP Legal Muhammad Aslam Hayat, and the Vehari Police IT team.
