Over 100 foreign buyers likely to attend carpet exhibition in Lahore

LAHORE   –  Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman, chairman of the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), and Chairman Exhibition Committee Riaz Ahmad have anticipated that more than 100 international buyers from countries including the United States, Europe, Russia, Italy, and Türkiye are expected to attend the upcoming International Exhibition of Handmade Carpets, scheduled to take place in Lahore this October 2025.

Speaking at the association’s weekly review meeting, the PCMEA leadership emphasized the need for extraordinary efforts and strong institutional support in light of India’s parallel exhibition. With India also hosting a similar event, we must intensify our preparations and secure full cooperation from relevant government bodies, they said. They further stated that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will offer special travel packages to foreign buyers as soon as official approval is granted. Once we receive clearance from TDAP, we will extend package offers to international participants to facilitate their visit to Pakistan, the officials noted.

During the meeting, Chairman Exhibition Committee Riaz Ahmad provided a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing preparations, while participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the event’s success. Special focus was placed on outshining regional competitors through superior organization and product display. The meeting was attended by Patron-in-Chief Abdul Latif Malik, Senior Vice Chairman Zahid Nazir, Chairperson of the Carpet Training Institute Ejaz-ur-Rehman, Senior Leader Usman Ashraf, Major (R) Akhtar Nazir, Saeed Khan, and other key members of the Association.

Chairman Atiq-ur-Rehman and Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmad urged TDAP to expedite its decision on the proposed incentive packages, highlighting that India has already extended such offers to potential buyers. “Many international buyers are considering visiting both countries. It is essential that we inform them of our packages without delay,” they emphasized. Describing the exhibition as a pivotal opportunity under current economic conditions, the PCMEA leadership stressed that the event would not only boost the local carpet industry but also help secure valuable foreign exchange through export deals.

Participants expressed a collective resolve to enhance Pakistan’s international presence through high-quality displays featuring unique and artistic carpet designs. Heads of various committees overseeing the exhibition preparations also briefed the attendees on their activities and sought further guidance. It was also revealed that the exhibition will include side meetings with foreign buyers aimed at strengthening commercial ties and gaining insights into emerging global trends.
