ISLAMABAD  –  As the devastating floods of 2025 badly damaged the agriculture lands mainly in KP and Punjab, the governments’ departments concerned will soon compile a report of damaged crops. In order to calculate the damages and loss in the agriculture sector, the departments concerned have chalked out a plan to conduct surveys in different areas. On the basis of the survey a strategy will be evolved to meet forthcoming shortfall and expected inflation in the country, agriculture experts revealed. The unprecedented floods badly damaged cereal crops like rice, maize, and vegetables.

Due to the worst impacts of floods in agricultural land, the prices of vegetables have started soaring everyday and rates can soon reach its peak owing to gap in demand and supply.  The supply of cereal crops is plummeting and that can compound the crisis in the coming month, experts viewed presenting socio-economic challenges ahead. When contacted, Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Amir Muhyuddin expressed satisfaction to meet the challenge in terms of shortage of wheat. Sufficient wheat is available in the county to deal with the situation, he said.

Whereas, the growers from different areas of Punjab said that they have suffered a heavy loss due to floods 2025 and most of them would not have capacity to grow wheat in the coming months. The floodwaters damaged over 20 percent rice crops in the country. The country might face 15 percent loss only in the main crop. The rice crop was nearly 65 percent damaged due to floodwaters. Other agriculture experts viewed that nearly forty percent of the cotton crop in central and southern Punjab has been destroyed.
