Daniyal, Saim shine as Zalmi dismantle Sultans in Multan

LAHORE  –  Peshawar Zalmi produced a clinical all-round performance to dismantle Multan Sultans by seven wickets in the 25th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday night.

Fast bowler Ahmed Daniyal spearheaded Zalmi’s dominance with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for just 17 runs in his four-over spell. His incisive bowling was well-supported by Maaz Sadaqat (2-12) and Luke Wood (2-20), as Multan were bundled out for a modest 108 in 19.1 overs after being asked to bat first. Multan’s innings lacked momentum throughout. Despite brief starts from Mohammad Rizwan (17), Tayyab Tahir (22), and Shai Hope (23), none of the batters were able to convert their starts into a substantial score. The collapse began early, with Yasir Khan departing for 10 in the fourth over. From 60-2, the Sultans stumbled to 108 all out, losing their last eight wickets for just 48 runs.

In reply, Zalmi chased down the target in just 13 overs, finishing at 110/3 with a commanding run rate of 8.46. Saim Ayub led the charge with a fluent 49 off 33 balls, striking four boundaries and three sixes. Despite losing Babar Azam (8) and Mitchell Owen (1) cheaply, Zalmi faced little resistance. Max Bryant sealed the chase with an unbeaten 38 off just 20 balls, including five boundaries and a six.

For the Sultans, young spinner Shahid Aziz was the lone bright spot with the ball, taking 2 for 17 in three overs, including the prized wicket of Zalmi captain Babar Azam. This convincing win bolsters Peshawar Zalmi’s position in the points table, while Multan Sultans will need to regroup quickly after suffering a crushing home defeat.
