Afghan deputy governor of Kunar province ‘abducted’ in Peshawar



The Deputy Governor of Afghanistan’s Kunar province Qazi Muhammad Nabi Ahmadi has been kidnapped by Unidentified gunmen in Peshawar, Afghan officials said on Saturday.

Deputy Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Zardasht Shams said the governor was kidnapped from the busy Dabgari Garden area of Peshawar, where he was scheduled to meet a doctor.

Police in Peshawar has not commented on the incident as no one has claimed responsibility yet.

Shams said Afghan embassy has officially informed the Pakistan Foreign Office and the Afghan consulate in Peshawar is in contact with the police officials there.

He said the deputy governor came to Peshawar on valid visa and was accompanied by his brother.
