PSL franchises lock in foreign stars for final leg as season 10 resumes tomorrow

LAHORE –  As HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 resumes on May 17 (tomorrow) with high-stakes fixtures in Rawalpindi and Lahore, the participating franchises have reinforced their squads with key international signings, setting the stage for an electrifying finish to the tournament.

Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, and Karachi Kings have all finalized their foreign contingents for the remainder of the league, injecting experience, firepower, and flair into the PSL’s closing phase.

LAHORE QALANDARS SIGN RAJAPAKSA AND SHAKIB

Defending champions Lahore Qalandars, currently battling for a playoff spot, have added two seasoned international players to their roster. Veteran Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa replaces Tom Curran, who was ruled out due to an ankle injury. Rajapaksa, a powerful left-hander with extensive T20 experience, previously featured in PSL 8 with Peshawar Zalmi.

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars had also roped in former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, bolstering their spin department and all-round depth. With one league match left against fifth-placed Peshawar Zalmi, these additions could be pivotal in securing a playoff berth.

QUETTA GLADIATORS STRENGTHEN TOP SPOT WITH THREE KEY ADDITIONS

Table-toppers Quetta Gladiators, already assured a top two finish, have made strategic reinforcements by signing Sri Lankan duo Avishka Fernando and Dinesh Chandimal, alongside Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib. The trio is expected to replace unavailable foreign players including Australia’s Sean Abbott and New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson, who has been drafted into IPL 2025.

Importantly, key overseas stars Rilee Rossouw and Finn Allen have also confirmed their continued availability, giving the Gladiators a strong and balanced outfit heading into the playoffs. With one group match remaining against Multan Sultans, Quetta will be aiming to maintain momentum.

ISLAMABAD UNITED UNLEASH POWERHOUSE QUINTET

Islamabad United have confirmed a formidable group of five international stars for the remainder of PSL 10. England’s explosive opener Alex Hales headlines the signings, supported by South African stalwart Rassie van der Dussen, Australian seamer Ben Dwarshuis, Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham, and England pacer Tymal Mills.

These additions significantly strengthen Islamabad’s title ambitions as they seek a record-equaling fourth PSL title. The United management has emphasized the importance of this international core in delivering consistent, high-quality performances as the league reaches its business end.

KARACHI KINGS WELCOME SCOTLAND’S GEORGE MUNSEY

Karachi Kings have added an exciting new face in George Munsey, the prolific Scottish opener known for his aggressive batting style. Making his PSL debut, Munsey arrives with a wealth of T20 experience from global leagues including the BPL, ILT20, and Vitality Blast. With over 2,000 T20I runs at a strike rate exceeding 140, Munsey offers a much-needed spark to Karachi’s top order as they prepare to take on Peshawar Zalmi in the opening fixture of the resumed tournament.
