Barber offers an old-man haircut for naughty kids

Atlanta– Russell Fredrick, a 34-year-old barber outside Atlanta and the father of three, was stumped when his 12-year-old son Rushawn was acting out and getting into trouble at school.

So he gave his son a new haircut, the “Benjamin Button Special,” according to a report by the Washington Post. The cut features a completely bald crown with a ring of hair around the sides of the head, a look most commonly worn by senior citizens.

Frederick figured that if kids want to “act grown,” they should look the part too.

The barber saw immediate results with Rushawn, so he decided to offer the haircut at his suburban Atlanta salon, A-1 Kutz, three days a week for free.

Some experts are wary, however, suggesting that shaming children could have unintended consequences.

“It may have a temporary effect that results in changes in behavior, but there could also be a deeper or more lasting effect on the child’s self-image,” clinical social worker Wanda Wheeler said. But Frederick’s special is still booming, with many parents hoping to teach their kids a lesson without resorting to more severe methods.
