Australian High Commissioner meets Chairman HEC



Islamabad- Peter Heyward, Australian High Commissioner called on Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman, Higher Education Commission at HEC Secretariat and congratulated the latter on his appointment as HEC chief.
Both sides discussed future educational linkages between Australian and Pakistani universities. Mr. Heyward appreciated contributions of Dr. Ahmed for higher education sector during his previous stints at the HEC as well as different universities. He hoped that under the leadership of Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed higher education sector of Pakistan will flourish further.
Institutional linkages, joint research programmes, new Colombo Plan and PhD scholarships programmes were also discussed. It was decided that a Vice Chancellors’ delegation from public and private universities will visit Australia in July/August this year to explore different avenues of collaboration with Australian Universities. Similarly, Australian Universities’ Vice Chancellors delegation is also expected to visit Pakistani universities by end of this year or early next year.
