78th birth anniversary of renowned writer Fahmida Riaz observed



ISLAMABAD  – The 78th birth anniversary of renowned Urdu poet, writer, and human rights activist Fahmida Riaz was observed on Monday. She was born on July 28, 1946, in Meerut, British India, She authored more than 15 books, including Godaavari, Khana-e-Aab-o-Gil, and a groundbreaking poetic translation of Rumi’s Masnavi into Urdu. 

She was honoured with the Pride of Performance Award in 2010 for her exceptional literary contributions. Fahmida Riaz passed away on November 21, 2018, in Lahore.
