ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, visited Bannu and attended a high-level meeting focused on counterterrorism.
They also participated in the funeral prayers of the twelve brave martyrs of the South Waziristan operation. The PM reaffirmed that Pakistan’s response to terrorism will continue with full force and made it clear that no ambiguity or compromise will be tolerated.
At least 19 soldiers were martyred in separate clashes with terrorists in different parts of the
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said on Saturday. According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations,(ISPR), at least 35 terrorists were killed by security forces during the clashes.
He said terrorist leaders and facilitators responsible for attacks in Pakistan are operating from Afghan soil with the backing of India. The prime minister stated that the Afghan Interim Government has been clearly told to choose between supporting the Khawarij or stand with Pakistan. He highlighted the involvement of infiltrated Afghan nationals in terrorist incidents and stressed the urgent need for the repatriation of illegal Afghan residents currently living in Pakistan. He said the Pakistani nation rejects politicization and misleading narratives on the issue of terrorism. Shehbaz Sharif warned that anyone facilitating or advocating for the Khawarij or acting as proxies for India is essentially their agent and will be dealt with accordingly.
“The banned TTP and Fitntaul Khwarij are responsible for attacks on innocent civilians and our security forces. Such hostile forces will not be allowed to sabotage peace in Pakistan,” the PM asserted. PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that national progress and development were directly linked to peace and stability. He reiterated that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyred troops would be honored and upheld. He also announced that an important meeting of the Federal Cabinet would soon be convened aimed at to counterterrorism.
“The enemies of Pakistan cannot impose their destructive ideology on our nation. We will defeat them together with full might,” he underlined.
Upon his arrival at Bannu Cantt, the Prime Minister was received by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Corps Commander Peshawar.
He was given a comprehensive briefing on the region’s security landscape, including threats posed by Fitntaul Khwarij, Indian-backed proxies and their facilitators operating across the western border. He said these hostile elements would not be allowed to attacks our innocent civilians and our brave security forces any more.
He praised the unity and resilience of the Pakistani people, especially the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for standing like Banyan-um-Marsoos with the state and armed forces against the Indian proxies. To ensure a more effective response to terrorism, he affirmed that the government will immediately implement all necessary administrative and legal measures. During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal also visited the injured at Bannu CMH, and the Corps Commander of Peshawar provided a detailed briefing on the region’s security situation.
“On 11 September 2025, Security Forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Lal Qilla Maidan, Lower Dir District, on reported presence of khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Khwarij,” the ISPR said.
During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, ten Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell.
However, during intense fire exchange, seven brave sons of soil, Naik Abdul Jalil (age: 39 years, resident of District North Waziristan), Naik Gul Jan (age: 38 years, resident of District Lakki Marwat), Lance Naik Azmat Ullah (age: 28 years, resident of District Lakki Marwat), Sepoy Abdul Malik (age: 28 years, resident of District Khyber), Sepoy Muhammad Amjad (age: 27 years, resident of District Malakand), Sepoy Muhammad Dawood (age: 23 years, resident of District Swabi), Sepoy Fazal Qayum (age: 21 years, resident of District Dera Ismail Khan) having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat while saving precious lives of innocent civilians, who were made hostage by Indian sponsored Khawrij.
Intelligence reports have unequivocally confirmed physical involvement of Afghan Nationals in these heinous acts. Pakistan expects the Interim Afghan Government to uphold its responsibilities and deny its soil for Terrorists activities against Pakistan.
Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored Kharji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian Sponsored Terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve.
Also, the ISPR said that from 10-13 September, thirty five Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Khwarij were sent to hell in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
On reported presence of Khwarij, an intelligence based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in Bajaur District. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, twenty two Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell.
In another encounter that took place in South Waziristan District, thirteen more Khwarij were neutralized by the security forces. However, during intense fire exchange, twelve brave sons of soil, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from Indian sponsored killed Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in these areas.
Intelligence reports have unequivocally confirmed physical involvement of Afghan Nationals in these heinous acts. Besides, use of Afghan soil against Pakistan by Fitna al Khawarij terrorists continues to remain a grave point of concern. Pakistan expects the Inteirm Afghan Government to uphold its responsibilities and deny use of its soil for Terrorists activities against Pakistan.

Commissioner Bannu Division, Parwaiz Sabatkhel, has imposed a two-day curfew in North Waziristan and Bannu districts citing security concerns.
According to the official notification issued on Saturday, the curfew will remain in place on Saturday and Sunday, during which all forms of movement will be strictly restricted.
The order also specifies that all markets, shops, and commercial centers in both districts will remain closed. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the curfew.
The district administration has urged residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Citi-zens have also been requested to fully cooperate with the administration throughout the curfew peri-od.
