
Security forces on Saturday killed 17 militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Darsha Khail area of Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to officials, several injured militants managed to escape and hide in nearby villages. A large cache of weapons was seized during the search operation, while authorities imposed a curfew in Darsha Khail and adjoining areas. Residents were urged not to shelter fugitives and to report any information about injured militants immediately.
Sources said the operation targeted the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij. Based on intelligence, security forces had encircled a 22-member militant group before engaging in the encounter.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the timely and professional action of the security forces, praying for the recovery of injured personnel. He reiterated the government’s commitment to completely uprooting terrorism from the country.
